A 14-year-old boy remains in hospital after he was pounced on by a gang outside a Carntyne school. 

The victim and his friends were within the grounds of St Andrew's High School, on Torphin Crescent, yesterday when they were approached by a group of blade-wielding thugs.  

The brutes attacked at around 6pm and the teenager had to be taken to hospital with "serious injuries" to his body.  

The force say that the reasoning behind the attack is currently unknown. 

Detective Constable Claire Cunningham said: "The boy was playing with his friends when they were attacked by the group within the grounds of the school. 

"He is currently recovering in hospital.

"The reason for the attack is unknown at this time and we are looking to trace four or five males who are described as all wearing dark clothing."
