A UNIQUE Dunfermline property just missed out on a place in the final of Scotland's Home of the Year after featuring on the popular BBC TV programme.

The retro home of textile designer Claire Christie was just one of three homes that made it to the heats in Perthshire and Central Scotland.

The Georgian three-storey semi at Leys Park Road that is filled with seventies vibes, artwork, ornaments and a plethora of bold colours was just one point off winning a place in the final!

Claire, who owns textile company Clarabella Christie, told the Press she was approached by the show to apply after already grabbing the attention of several magazines.

"My house is full of textiles and adventure and I'm really passionate about interior design!" she said.

"I'm definitely a nest-maker!

"I love finding stuff in a charity shop or an auction and looking for unusual things. It's a bit of a sport!

"Even though it's an old property, it's filled with all these retro '70s pieces.

"You don't have to furnish your home with pieces just from that era as it can work well with other styles too."

Claire normally works out of her studio at the Fire Station Creative and as well as working on designs, teaches sewing classes.

She first went to art school and originally became a trained textile designer but went off to other parts of the country to do other jobs.

In 2007, she started her own business and has returned gradually to what she first learned at college.

She lives with husband Kevin and son Joe, while daughter Gracie is currently at uni.

"It was a lot of fun, filming for the show!" Claire added.

"They came here last summer and 10 film crew showed up in the morning. My house has never been that tidy and it won't be again!

"You had to leave while the judges looked around and that was very strange!

"It's a really personal thing for me and even if we didn't make the final, the judges said such complimentary things.

"I am so glad we did because the homes they feature are just absolutely amazing.

"We live in Dunfermline with a view of a car park!

"But I always say it's style over money that counts!"
