POLICE said one motorist had an "expensive journey" after their car was clocked at 84mph on Tuesday.

Officers sent out a tweet after the driver was spotted speeding on the A985 road near Cairneyhill.

That offence normally leads to a £100 fine and three penalty points being added to your driving licence.

South West Fife Police said: "One motorist is being reported in connection with driving at 84mph on the A985 near to Cairneyhill, which has a speed limit of 60mph for some vehicles.

"The rules of the road still apply. Pay attention to road signs and stick to the limits please."
