CUTTING the grass in the middle of the night in West Fife will lead to the closure of slip roads from the M90 motorway.

Operating company Amey said the short-term closures get underway on Friday around junctions 1C and 2.

The work will last from 8pm to 6am the following morning and will allow them to "cut the grass on the verges safely".

The company said: "These works have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption, however motorists travelling during these times are advised to allow some extra time for their journey.

"The safety of workers remains a top priority during this essential maintenance project.

"Physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, will be in place to ensure all on-site personnel remain safe throughout the duration of the project. "Thorough risk assessments will be carried out and cleansing stations will be implemented on site."

This is the sequence of the closures – each one will last approximately 90 minutes: M90 junction 1C Admiralty northbound on-slip. A diversion route will be signposted via the M90 southbound, returning north from M90 junction 1B Ferrytoll;

M90 junction 2 northbound on-slip. A diversion route will be signposted via the M90 southbound, returning north from M90 junction 1C Admiralty;

M90 junction 2 southbound on-slip. A diversion route will be signposted via the M90 northbound, returning south from M90 junction 3 Halbeath;

M90 junction 1C Admiralty southbound off-slip. A diversion route will be signposted via the M90 southbound, returning north from M90 junction 1B Ferrytoll to exit at M90 junction 1C northbound off-slip;

M90 junction 2 northbound off-slip. A diversion route will be signposted via the M90 northbound, returning south from M90 junction 3 Halbeath to exit at M90 junction 2 southbound off-slip.
