THE M90 northbound will be closed for five nights as traffic loops are installed and road markings are renewed.

The carriageway will be shut at Junction 1C Admiralty and Junction 2 Pitreavie from 8pm to 6am on the nights of August 3 to 7.

A diversion route for northbound traffic will be signposted from M90 Junction 1C Admiralty to Junction 3 Halbeath via the A985 Admiralty road, the B980 Kings Road, Carnegie Avenue, Lapwing drive, Sandpiper Drive and Sanderling Way.

These works have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption, however motorists travelling during these times are advised to allow some extra time for their journey.

Physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, will be in place to ensure all on-site personnel remain safe throughout the duration of the project.

Thorough risk assessments will be carried out and cleansing stations will be implemented on site.

Transport Scotland and Amey say they, "fully recognise the importance of a safe and reliable trunk road network, particularly during the COVID-19 outbreak, and it is vital that essential maintenance works are carried out in order to maintain the integrity and safety of these routes."

A number of maintenance projects have been identified as essential and will be prioritised over the coming weeks.

The scheme is weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if conditions are not favourable.

This scheme has been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland and Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors (FCBC).
