A walker was rescued from a mountain in the Trossachs area after injuring his lower leg. 

The Lomond Mountain Rescue Team (LMRT) was called out to Ben Venue around 4pm on Saturday to reports of a 56-year-old man with an ankle injury. 

They were assisted by the Scottish Ambulance Service and the Forth Valley Police Division. 

The man's injury was splinted and packaged before the rescue teams made it down the "narrow and rough path" with a stretcher.

Ambulances took the casualty to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. 

A statement by LMRT reads: "Call to assist a casualty in the wooded area North of Ledard Farm on the Ben Venue track.

"Thanks to the Scottish Ambulance Service paramedic was on scene when the team arrived at the farm.

"Team members made their way to their location. Quickly splinted and packaging the walker who had a lower leg injury.

"After a stretcher descent, down the narrow and rough path, the casualty was taken onward to the Queen Elizabeth hospital."

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We were called around 3.20 pm to report of a 56-year old man sustaining a leg injury near Ben Venue, Kinlochard, on Saturday 12 July.

"Officers attended to assist members of the Lomond Mountain Rescue Team and the injured man was taken to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service."
