HARD-WORKING volunteers dished up a high tea for residents in sheltered accommodation to celebrate lockdown restrictions last week.

Community group 'West Fife Support For the Vulnerable' delivered delicious food and created memory boxes for those who live at Dollar Court in Dunfermline and even turned up with their very own piper in tow!

After being set up by local lass Sarah Keeble, the group has been able to set up a food bank collection, clothing bank, education bank and feed pensioners hot meals to help the community during the coronavirus pandemic.

The high tea was organised after Sarah wanted to thank local fundraising hero Kenny McLachlan for all the help he had given the group while getting on their feet to serve the community.

Being the kind man that he is, Kenny's idea of a thank you was to serve the elderly in Dunfermline with a wee treat.

Sarah said: "Kenny is an unsung hero in our community.

"When the group first started, the Co-Op pioneering scheme put me in touch with him because of all of his fundraising experience.

"He has raised about £70,000 for the Pars over the years and helped us secure surplus food contracts and even get our own premises.

"His experience has been invaluable and he is just an incredibly inspiring person.

"We wanted to give Kenny something back but being the kind man he is, he wanted to do something for the pensioners.

"We had a group of volunteers from the local church as well as our group and we had just a great afternoon together.

"It was so lovely to be able to have some interaction after all these weeks.

"We served 36 people in total and they also got a Polaroid photo to keep as a memory.

"Dean Saunders was on the pipes and there were a few tears as the residents listened!

"I also want to say thank you to our incredible chefs for the incredible food!"
