West Fife Guide Dogs fundraisers have set up a virtual collection box as the charity faces a huge drop in donations following coronavirus.

They have also joined up with the Dunfermline and Carnegie Hockey Club who have been raising cash to assist them.

Spokesperson Diane MacLeod said: “We fundraisers, at Guide Dogs West Fife, would much prefer to be out and about meeting everyone at events while raising funds for guide dogs.

"Sadly, as we all adapt to the new ‘normal’ of living with coronavirus and keeping our social distance there has been no fundraising.

“Guide Dogs have announced that community fundraising expect a drop in donations of approximately £800,000 this year.

"To continue to support the charity, when they need it the most, our team set up a ‘virtual collection box’ on Guide Dogs JustGiving page.

“The hockey team have joined forces with us and have been raising funds by firstly travelling (virtually) to all other clubs and now virtually making their way to Tokyo.”
