MSP Shirley-Anne Somerville has issued a warning to people across Dunfermline & West Fife against complacency, after restrictions were imposed in Aberdeen.

Due to a COVID-19 cluster in the city, several lockdown measures have been reintroduced with pubs and restaurants now closed and residents unable to visit each other's homes.

People elsewhere are being advised not to travel to Aberdeen, while people currently visiting the city are being told to take "extra care" when returning home.

The restrictions will be reviewed next week and could be extended further.

Ms Somerville said: "Today's news about Aberdeen should be a stark reminder to people in Dunfermline & West Fife that this virus is very much still out there.

"A lot of hard work has helped suppress COVID-19 but that does not mean we can get complacent and think it's gone away forever.

"The public health guidance has been issued for a reason and it applies to everyone; we are all in the first line of defence against this virus.

"I'd also urge local businesses to make sure they're acting responsibly. My office has unfortunately had several complaints about local pubs and those concerns have been passed on to both the Police and Trading Standards to allow further action to be taken.

"I'd advise people to only spend their money in places where their safety is treated as a priority."
