Thousands paid their last respects to a legendary Coatbridge boxer today through a live stream of his funeral.

The funeral mass for Rab Bannan took place St Bartholomew's Church this morning before he was taken to his final resting place at Old Monkland Cemetery at noon.

However, despite instructions to avoid a mass gathering at the funeral in line with Covid regulations cars lined the streets surrounding the Old Monkland Cemetery, Coatbridge.

It is understood police needed to step in to direct traffic on the usually quiet streets.
