FIFE had no new COVID-19 deaths last week.

The latest data available shows that during Week 32 – August 3 to 9 – no coronavirus-related deaths were recorded in the Kingdom.

Figures published by the National Records of Scotland (NRS) include those fatalities where COVID-19 is mentioned on the death certificate.

The current total therefore remains at 203 deaths with the majority coming in hospital with 110 people sadly losing their lives.

This represents 54.1 per cent of the total figure for the Kingdom.

A total of 75 people have died in local care homes, which accounts for 36.9 per cent.

A further 18 people have died either at home or in a ‘non-institutional setting’, representing 8.8 per cent of the overall total.

The NRS death total is different from the count of deaths published daily by the Scottish Government because the latter is based on deaths of those who have tested positive for COVID-19.

The NRS figures include all deaths where COVID-19 (including suspected cases) was mentioned on the death certificate.
