A 14-year-old pupil at Woodmill High School was taken to hospital with a "serious injury" after being hit by a car in Dunfermline yesterday.

Police Scotland said that it happened on Aberdour Road as the boy was making his way home and led to the road being closed for around two hours. 

A spokesperson said: "Around 3.45pm on Thursday August 13, officers were called to the Aberdour Road area of Dunfermline, following a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

“A 14-year-old boy was taken to the Victoria Hospital with a serious injury but non-life-threatening injury.

“The road was closed for around two hours and reopened around 5.45pm.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”

Headteacher Sandy McIntosh, said: "A third year pupil was taken to hospital as a precaution after the incident.

"The pupil suffered minor injuries but is thankfully fine."
