A DUNFERMLINE man told his partner she was lucky she was pregnant or he would have hit her.

Jake Richardson has previous offences of domestic abuse.

Richardson, 24, of Abel Place, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that at his home on April 6, he shouted repeatedly, swore, acted in an aggressive manner and kicked a door repeatedly.

Depute fiscal Jill Currie said an argument started between the couple at around 11pm and Richardson refused to leave after being asked.

Instead, he started shouting aggressively and repeatedly told his partner to “shut up”.

After again being asked to leave, Richardson told his partner: “You’re lucky that you’re pregnant otherwise I’d hit you.”

He left but returned 20 minutes later. When told he was not getting in, Richardson started kicking the communal front door.

When he was let back in, the argument continued and the police were called by others.

Defence solicitor Gordon Martin said: “To some extent, he’s learned a lesson. A bit late in the day but better late than never.”

Sheriff Charles Macnair said the incident was “of considerable concern” because of previous domestic offences committed by Richardson.

He imposed a community payback order with 12 months' supervision.
