FITNESS-HUNGRY West Fifers made nearly 800 bookings for sports and leisure facilities seen in just two days.

Fife Sports and Leisure Trust launched its online booking system on Sunday as part of coronavirus health and safety measures ahead of doors re-opening on three of its leisure centres on Monday.

Carnegie Leisure Centre and Pitreavie Athletics Centre will be re-opening first on Monday, followed by Dalgety Bay Leisure Centre on September 28.

The next phase will see Duloch Leisure Centre welcoming customers on October 12.

Users are required to book for entry to its facilities and the trust will also soon launch a new customer app so customers can access facilities easily with the new COVID measures in place.

Scott Urquhart, sports and physical activity team manager for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “Our staff and facilities are ready and we are very much looking forward to welcoming customers back to their local facilities.

"We’re sure that customers will be confident in the protocols we have in place which are in line with government, NHS Scotland and industry guidelines.

“We understand customers across Fife will be eager to get back to their local leisure centres and we would appeal for understanding as we step up preparations as quickly and as safely as we can.

"I’d also like to thank them for their support and goodwill during the closure of our facilities.”
