A DUNFERMLINE woman has been banned after being caught drink-driving for a second time.

Wendy Sturch, 44, of Drum Road, who was more than three times over the limit, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

She admitted that on June 11, she drove a car after consuming excess alcohol. Her reading was 80 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 22 microgrammes.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said police were contacted by a woman after Sturch had turned up at her house and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

Officers later went to her home and Sturch admitted she had been drinking wine.

Defence solicitor Roshni Joshi said of her client: “She’s had an issue with alcohol abuse and the lockdown took its toll.

“The night before, she had been drinking alcohol and then the next day she drank again. She accepts her behaviour was extremely dangerous.

“She had made a conscious change in her lifestyle and she believes this incident was a blip.”

Sheriff Alastair Brown fined Sturch £400 and banned her from driving for three years.
