THREE siblings from Dunfermline are looking to impress on the digital stage this week as they competed in a virtual accordion competition.

The Shand household is alive with the sound of music with Clelland, Inver and Blythe following in the footsteps of their dad, Gordon, in playing the accordion.

The talented trio picked up the instrument at different ages and they all share a love for playing and practising together on a daily basis.

All three have won world and international events in the past and this week are representing Scotland in the 'Young' category (under-18) in the PIF 2020 Castelfidardo competition.

Clelland, 15, younger sister Blythe, 14, and younger brother Inver, 12, were invited to take part by the event organisers and they have each submitted a video entry.

Facebook users can visit the event's page (www.facebook.com/pifyoung2020/) to leave a like on each of their entries, with the overall winner the entrant with the most likes.

The deadline is midnight tomorrow night (Wednesday) and, ahead of the revealing of the overall winner and other prizes, their mum, Ailsa, told the Press: "This event is a celebration of all different types of accordion music.

"They would have loved to travel to Italy to compete properly but the pandemic cancelled those plans.

"They received invites from the organisers so they've all got their entries online now.

"It doesn't matter to them if they win or not as they just love to play.

"They'll play in the house more or less every night and they love doing that together.

"As long as they enjoy playing, I'm happy. I'm very proud of them all."
