A DUNFERMLINE pharmacy has introduced a prescription service "robot" to allow patients to pick up their medicine around the clock.

The service has been added at Lindsay & Gilmour's Alderston Pharmacy.

The resource, which anyone can register for online, responds to growing demand for greater accessibility of medicines at a time which suits and also helps to minimise contact with other households.

After registering, customers can pick up their prescriptions from the automated collection point robot at any hour of the day or night. They will then receive a pin code via SMS text message each time they want to collect a prescription.

Pharmacy manager Shona Tarvit said: "We’re delighted to be offering the people of Dunfermline this new technology which gives our patients the option to manage prescription collections around their own busy schedules or unique requirements.

"It demonstrates the investment in technology which Lindsay & Gilmour continues to make for the benefit of the communities we serve.”

Some medicines will not be suitable for collection via the collection point, for example, items that require to be stored in a fridge or controlled drugs.
