PLANNING permission has been served up which will see an empty Dalgety Bay shop turned into a restaurant and hot food takeaway.

London and Cambridge Properties Ltd had lodged the proposals for the unit at 1 Moray Way North.

The premises have previously been a convenience store and a licensed cafe.

A planning statement on behalf of the company said the proposal for a restaurant and takeaway would result in the re-use of premises that "have been vacant for some time" and "provide a range of economic benefits".

It said the company would invest in the premises and create jobs.

"The nature of the proposed use would have no direct impact on the operation of these premises nor indeed any other use within the local centre," added the statement.

In permitting the application, a report from Fife Council planners said the proposal was acceptable in meeting the terms of the Development Plan and relevant national guidance.

It added: "The proposed change of use would have no detrimental impact on the appearance of the building, would have no adverse impact on amenity levels of adjacent commercial and residential properties and would not create any road safety issues."
