THE conversion of an iconic building in the heart of Dunfermline promises "luxury living" with plush new homes now on the market.

What was latterly the Carnegie Clinic has been transformed into The Carnegie Apartments, with 18 stylish flats in the centre of town.

Developers Hunter & Turnbull gave potential buyers a first glimpse inside the property in February, and some of the new homes have already been snapped up.

Estate agents Morgans, based in Dunfermline's East Port, are marketing two of the two-bedroom apartments.

Apartment 1 has a fixed price of £325,000 and Apartment 4 has a fixed price of £235,000.

The listing states: "The developers have retained period features which are rare in an impressive development of this size, allowing the building to retain its character and charm.

"This apartment benefits from being split over two levels and has a highly-desirable private courtyard, an oasis for you to relax in.

"Additionally, the stunning kitchen features a balcony area which overlooks the private garden area.

"Another superb focal point of this property is its high ceilings, which maximise the space and light drawn in to it. Viewing is essential."

The properties include: entrance hallway, open-plan living/dining room, breakfasting kitchen with feature island and balcony, study, cloakroom, two bedrooms (master bedroom with dressing area and en suite), bathroom, laundry room, courtyard/garden, secure entry system and two allocated parking spaces (gated parking).

The category B-listed building, between Carnegie Drive and Inglis Street, dates from 1912 and is being converted into two one-bedroom flats, 15 two-bedroom flats and one three-bedroom flat.

Each apartment has two levels and there will be a total of 24 parking spaces. Phases two and three are scheduled to be completed next year.

A number of homes in phase one, including the three-bedroom flat, have been reserved already.

The property, next door to Carnegie Leisure Centre, was used initially as the Scottish College of Hygiene and Physical Training. The Carnegie Dunfermline Trust later made the building available as a health clinic, used by NHS Fife until it announced in 2013 that the clinic would move to Queen Margaret Hospital.
