WEST FIFE charity Hyperclub will see their new premises renovated next week ready for its opening in the New Year.

It will be 'all hands on deck' at DIY days set up for Monday and Tuesday with joiners, electricians and plumbers all volunteering their time to kit our the former Bubbles Bathroom Centre on Chalmers Street.

Since June, the charity, which has helped children and adults with learning difficulties for the past nine years, has been preparing the building by stripping back old rooms with the help of local businesses.

Thanks to National Lottery funding too, the Hyperclub will be creating an open-plan reception, a sensory and tactile room, memory room for the elderly, kids’ gaming room, open-plan training kitchen, large disabled changing room with hoist, open-plan dining and disco area, open-plan arts and crafts room and a beauty training salon.

Founder Suzie Connelly told the Press: "It's getting very exciting now!

"To think by next week we will have all the rooms up is just fantastic – it's going to be great!

"Thinking to January, I've written to Nicola Sturgeon to ask if she would come to open the centre.

"We've all had such a bad year I think it would be such a nice thing for her to come along as we look forward to 2021.

"It might just cheer us all up."

Back in June, the Hyperclub found a new base in a matter of days – thanks to the power of the Press.

The charity needed to find premises again for the third time in a year after attempts to find a larger venue for their much-needed services fell through.

After a plea for help in the Press, Gibb’s Vehicle Hire in Dunfermline offered the Hyperclub a building they bought last year.

The grand opening of the premises is planned for January 31.

"We can't believe that we are here after all this time!" Suzie said.

"It's been a nightmare at times trying to find a building where we could expand and do what we felt was needed for the community.

"It's going to benefit so many people and that's made it all worth it."

You still have time to volunteer for the DIY days and the Hyperclub are on the lookout for carpet shops to come forward to help out too.
