A DUNFERMLINE man ended up behind bars after ignoring a non-harassment order within a month of it being imposed for assaulting his pregnant partner.

Joshua McBeath, 21, of Aberdour Road, appeared from custody at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that having been placed on a non-harassment order on August 26 he breached this on September 13 when he attended his former partner’s home and attempted to gain entry.

The order had been imposed after McBeath violently attacked his then partner when she was five months pregnant.

The court was told the woman was in a “state of fear” after receiving a phone call from him on September 13.

She contacted his parents and they went to her house.

When McBeath turned up at the house he was prevented from going in by his mother.

He told her: “Who are you to try and stop me?” The police were then called.

Defence solicitor James Moncrieff said his client’s time in custody on remand had been “particularly unpleasant” for him, including having his nose broken in an assault.

He added: “It’s been a wake-up call for him.”

Sheriff James MacDonald imposed a community payback order with 18 months of supervision and 140 hours of unpaid work.

In August, McBeath was placed on a community payback order with 160 hours of unpaid work and a non-harassment order for 12 months.

He had admitted assaulting his pregnant partner by repeatedly punching her.

The victim was five months pregnant when the assault took place.

She had curled up on a couch and screamed “Watch the baby” as McBeath punched her.
