THE family of a schoolboy killed by a Glasgow waiter in a horror crash say they are "devastated" after his killer was caged for less than five years.

Jack Frame lost his life when Kanad Basi, who had taken cocaine and ecstasy, drove into a bend at speed, lost control, and crashed into a tree.

Basi, 22, was jailed today at Glasgow High Court for his crime after he earlier pleaded guilty to a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.

Joiner Aiden O'Donnell, 18, and shop worker Eleanor Plenderleith, 19, were also hurt in the crash.

Speaking in the aftermath of the sentence, Jack's family said the outcome hasn't given them "any type of justice".

In a statement released through Digby Brown Solicitors, they said: “We feel angry and devastated at the outcome today - only getting 4 years 8 months in jail will not deter anyone from doing the same thing.

“Kanad tried to blame Ellie which was incredibly unfair and this accident resulted in Jack’s death and serious injury to both Aidan and Ellie.

“This outcome has not given us any type of justice after what has a been a long process for us."

The family, from Coalburn, South Lanarkshire, added: “We would like to thank all our friends and family for all the support and love given to us during this difficult time but we would now appreciate some time to grieve.”

Lord Mulholland said the jail term would have been seven years, but for the guilty plea.
