NAIL files and polishes are at the ready for one West Fife woman who will be pushing herself to the limit again for Children in Need.

Dannika Majewski raised more than £650 for the charity last year by working a three-day ‘Nailathon’ and this year she’s taking on the challenge again but doubling her efforts!

Working from six in the morning through to 10 at night, she saw 41 clients back-to-back for gel polish appointments but this year her target is 84.

She’ll still be working those same gruelling 16-hours shifts, but has only given herself an extra day to fit in all her customers.

It’ll run from November 5 to 8.

The nail technician, who owns CUTEicles By Dannika, which is based at Avenue One on Townhill Road, told the Press: “The fundraiser went better than I could have hoped for last year and I got a lot of support thanks to the coverage in the Dunfermline Press.

“It seemed to bring people together and due to the success, I decided I needed to do it again.

“I wanted to increase the challenge by adding an extra day and reducing appointment times to see more clients each day.

“If I fill every slot I will see 84 clients!”

She added: “This year has been incredibly hard for everyone, but especially for our young people.

“Routines have been changed, places of support have been closed and loneliness has been a constant struggle.

“However throughout all of this Children in Need have been working to ensure organisations receive the help they need to continue to support young people up and down the country.

“Children In Need is not just an annual event.

“Throughout the year they are in the background, supporting communities and organisations, so I think it’s time we all helped support them.”

Dannika collected over £650 from client donations in 2019 but her target this year is £1,000 – and she’s already a quarter of the way there after raising £250!

“People might think last year’s fundraiser was hard enough but after the hard work I was so focused on getting the money to Children in Need and it was just a rewarding time.

“So I’ll be fine.

“With everything going on we’ve stopped thinking about the normal things that go on in the year.

“I was off work myself for four months because of the lockdown and I also had to take two weeks off in September as a client tested positive.

“It’s been very difficult and it’s up and down all the time so I’m trying to put everything into my work and this fundraiser to focus on something different.

“I’ve also entered myself into a nail competition!”
