A MAN is in stable condition after he was stabbed in the chest.

Police are treating the attack as attempted murder.

The man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The attack followed a gathering of around 12 people in Ottawa Crescent outside a block of flats at around 1.45am this morning.

The 22-year-old victim was chased by another man towards the central reservation of Dumbarton Road where he was stabbed in the chest.

He was wearing a red jacket and police believe that, due to the level of the disturbance, neighbours may have overheard or seen the incident.

They are asking of anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Bruce Fyfe, of Clydebank CID, said: "We are treating this as attempted murder and we're appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident to contact us.

"The victim was wearing a red jacket and despite the time of the incident, the disturbance outside the flat might have attracted attention with other residents as well as drivers on the A814.

"This type of violence shouldn't be tolerated in the community so we would encourage people with any information to let us know."

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 0154 of October 29, 2020 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
