A CROSSGATES woman has almost tripled her fundraising pot after taking on a four-day 'Nail!athon' for Children in Need.

Nail technician Dannika Majewski first took on the challenge to push herself to the limit by working from six in the morning through to 10 at night last year, raising £650.24 in the process.

Ready for round two and with the support of the community behind her, this year she raised an incredible £1,705.

Clients were asked to make a donation for gel nails and Dannika also raffled some prizes, including, a cute bear named Blush donated by the Duloch Spiderman!

Amazingly, an exhausted Dannika is already planning next year's event!

The nail technician, who owns CUTEicles By Dannika, which is based at Avenue One on Townhill Road, told the Press: "It was fun but I'm glad it is done!

"I ran a few raffles this time and that seemed to boost my fundraising.

"I think I will run something for two weeks next time. Everybody was so supportive and the community spirit was staggering.

"I know that it was shared a lot through the media, online and word of mouth."

Dannika added: "I was over the moon to get £1,705 when my target was £1,000 – I nearly tripled it!

"It's grown legs this year but hopefully it will grow arms as well next year.

"Last year, I did a lot of explaining about what I was doing but everyone knew what I was doing now and I had the support from the beginning.

"I was never expecting it to get this high – I was buzzing!

"The community spirit was astounding."
