A GLASGOW photographer has been ‘inundated with requests’ after recreating three popular Glasgow pubs using old photos and hand drawings.
Crafty Katy Bridgestock has created miniature versions of pubs popular with Glaswegians south of the river. She has also replicated the old Graphical House on Clyde Street back to it’s former glory.
The Laurieston on Bridge Street as well as Allison Arms and M.J. Heraghty’s on Pollokshaws Road have all been handmade from scratch. Every detail of the legendary Southside pubs have been painstakingly copied - even down to the burglar alarms.
Katy decided to make the models of the iconic pubs during lockdown when she had lots of time on her hands. She found herself missing her local watering holes and thought that recreating them would be a great way of remembering happier times.
Katy said: “I had planned a photoshoot in the back room of The Laurieston in March, but due to lockdown, this couldn’t go ahead. I bought some plastic people and just decided I would make it out of old photographs I had.”
“The project has really been keeping me going over the last few months.Working from home has been really difficult. This project has brought me so much joy this year.”
She has now been inundated with requests for prints and replicas of other pubs across Glasgow. Katy is also in the process of setting up an online shop for her latest creations which she hopes to have up and running early next week.
Katy is planning to add to her collection of well-known Glasgow buildings and is welcoming suggestions about what to create next.
Readers can see more of Katy’s creations over at her Facebook and Instagram profiles both named Katy Bridgestock Photography.
