POLICE have issued a warning after a woman was conned by a banking scam.

A 46-year-old Shettleston woman was scammed out of an unspecified amount of cash by fraudsters impersonating a bank.

Officers in Glasgow North East Division reminded the public to be cautious of unsolicited telephone calls from people purporting to be from a bank.

They urged people never to move money between accounts on the request of fraudsters, saying that a real bank would never make this request.

In a statement on Twitter police said: "A 46-year-old woman in the Shettleston area was conned out of a large amount of cash by an online or telephone scammer.

"Even if you think you're talking to your bank, they will NEVER ask you to move money between accounts.

Don't be fooled and always double-check."
