NHS FIFE say six people linked to a cluster of confirmed COVID-19 cases at a care in Crossgates have died.

The health board has issued an update following the outbreak associated with Craigie House Care Home.

On November 12, health officials stated there were 37 cases associated with the home.

But in a fresh update, the health board stated: "A further two people associated with Craigie House Care Home have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases to 39.

"Sadly, six people linked to the cluster have died after contracting the virus.

"NHS Fife’s Health Protection Team and the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership continue to work alongside Fife Council’s Environmental Health Service to support the management of the care home and offer advice to reduce further transmission of the virus.

"Anyone experiencing the well-established symptoms of COVID-19 should immediately self-isolate and arrange a test using the NHS inform website www.nhsinform.scot or by calling 0800 028 2816."

A local online support hub has been created to provide information on testing for COVID-19 and updates on the pandemic. Visit: www.nhsfife.org/coronavirus.

The Press has asked the health board for further comment.

The care home is one of 12 run by Kingdom Homes, which started in 1984 and has a head office in Kirkcaldy.

Craigie House has 30 bedrooms and shares its grounds with Alexander House Nursing Home, which is also owned by the same company.
