ROSYTH families have rallied round to raise nearly £5,000 hours after a fire in the town this morning.

It's understood the fire, in Hudson Road, was reported shortly after 8am and that the family living there managed to escape unhurt.

It appears that much of the home's roof has been destroyed and a justgiving page was set up through the Rosyth Billboard page to help the family affected.

It's target was to raise £500 but more than 250 members of the community have pledged cash to raise more than £4,300 just hours after the incident.

The page states: "Today, a family within our community had the worst day of their lives.

"Shortly before school, their home caught fire and, as a result, at such a horrible time of the year, will find themselves without a home and many of their belongings gone.

"Insurance may take care of things in the long term but for now let's do what we can as a community to help.

"Christmas is an expensive time of year but imagine you lost everyhting tomorrow.

"Let's rally as a community and try and help and get their lives back to some sort of normal ASAP.

"It's Christmas. Let's make some magic happen guys. Love you all."

The Press approached Scottish Fire and Rescue Service's out-of-hours media centre within the last few minutes for more details but they insisted they had no incident recorded against that address and refused to make any further comment.
