A ROSYTH charity had the help of a special superhero for a festive food collection recently.

Batman made an appearance in his Batmobile to help with a collection around the town for Rosyth EATS.

Accompanied by Catwoman, the caped crusader – otherwise known as Ricardo Alvarado – stepped in and helped collect 200kg of food for the charity.

Having bought his superhero vehicle last year, the Rosyth-based IT consultant knew it would have the power to bring smiles to the local community.

"I decided I wanted to do something good with it and Rosyth EATS is doing such a fantastic job," he said. "We raised just under 200kg and £150 of cash donations.

"We got a great reaction from people. It just put a smile on people's faces which was great as it has been quite a tough time for a lot of people. It was really nice to see the great reaction."

Rosyth EATS community hub manager Karen Dorrat said: "We have been really lucky – everyone has been so generous,. We have been getting donations left, right and centre. Everyone has been very generous.

"It was handy to have a top-up of supplies because we have been so busy. Batman came along and he brought catwoman and they went out. We had asked people to let us know their addresses in Rosyth if they thought they had something to donate and put out a rough schedule and some people left extras at the end of their driveways.

"After two hours of collecting around Rosyth with our Rosyth EATS van behind to help carry it, they brought about 200kg of food so that was a really good result for us."
