THERE were 12 West Fife neighbourhoods with "suppressed" levels of coronavirus in the past seven days.

The weekly statistics from Public Health Scotland reveal hotspots in the region for the period from January 16 to January 22 when a total of 440 positive cases were recorded across Fife.

The number of areas included in the lowest category – where less than three cases have been recorded – doubled compared to last week's figures.

There were no West Fife areas in the highest rating section, for places with 400 plus cases per 100,000 population, but six were in the 200-399 per 100,000 population category.

These were Kincardine (11 cases), Rosyth Central (12 cases), Dunfermline Baldridgeburn (11 cases), Rosyth South (11 cases), Dunfermline Duloch South (11 cases) and Rosyth North (6 cases).
