A POWER cut is affecting KY11 and KY12 postcodes this afternoon (Tuesday).

Some homes in Cairneyhill, Crombie, Crossford, Gowkhall and Townhill are understood to be impacted by the loss of power which occured after midday.

One resident in Cairneyhill, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "The power cut happened about 12 and the estimate is it'll be off until about 2.30 or 3pm.

"Everyone is raging as they're all working from home. It's a bit rubbish."

Scottish Power Energy Networks are investigating the issue and have posted the following update on their website.

A spokesperson said: "There is a power cut affecting the KY12 postcode area of Dunfermline.

"We had no advance warning of this and only became aware of it at 12.17pm.

"Our control centre will attempt to reset the network remotely to restore power in stages, and we will also send our next available engineer to attend site.

"Our team will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 2.30pm.

"Once they arrive, or when we receive any update regarding the cause, we will be able to provide you with more information.

"We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."

UPDATE - 2PM

Scottish Power Energy Networks now say that all power is expected to be back on by 4pm.

A spokesperson said: "Our team has managed to restore power to a number of properties in the area and are still working to repair grounded overhead line equipment at Windmill Cottage affecting the rest of our customers without power.

"We now expect all power to be back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 4pm. We will update this message if this information changes.

"We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."
