A PIECE of life saving equipment was stolen from Inverkeithing High Street last week.
The defibrillator was taken between Thursday and Friday before being found a short distance away in Alma Street the following morning.
Police are investigating the incident which was described in a post from South West Fife Police's Twitter feed as "mindless".
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Officers are investigating the theft of a defibrillator from its location in the High Street in Inverkeithing sometime overnight Thursday 25/Friday 26 February, 2021.
"The machine was found by a member of the public a short distance away. Enquiries are ongoing and CCTV is being checked.
"Anyone with any information which might help in this investigation is asked to call on the 101 number, quoting the reference 0977 26 February."
