THE benefits of reopening the Dunfermline to Alloa train line will be highlighted at a virtual public meeting tomorrow (Thursday).

Fife MSP Mark Ruskell will host the session from 7pm and discuss the Green Party’s proposed £22bn Rail for All Programme. Members of the public will be able to hear from rail experts and will be encouraged to have their say on the proposals.

“In the face of a climate emergency we need to explore every option available to get people out of cars and onto low-carbon public transport,” said Mr Ruskell.

“Scotland’s railways have been neglected for decades by governments of every political stripe and it’s long past time for that to change. Our proposals are detailed, fully costed and would transform the network across the country. We want to make rail the first choice for travel by ensuring that it is reliable, affordable and sustainable.

“These meetings are a chance for you to share your views on the future of the railway in Fife and Clackmannanshire. I am very much looking forward to a lively, energetic discussion on this important issue.”
