A DUNFERMLINE engineer is hoping he can stand the heat after heading into the Masterchef kitchen.

Zane Chetty, 42, will be seen on our TV screens later this month in heat seven of the popular BBC cookery show.

Masterchef is now in its 17th season and he'll have to impress judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace with his culinary skills if he's to progress in the competition.

The current run started on Monday with 40 amateur cooks battling it out to see who will be crowned this year's champion.

At the end of each week, four contestants who have made it through from the two competing heats go head-to-head in a quarter-final to secure a place in the semi-finals.

Zane's debut on the show has already been filmed but BBC bosses were understandably keeping tight-lipped about how he did.
