Within the last few minutes it has been confirmed that youths have been charged after a fire broke out at the home of Rosyth Sharks Rugby Football Club in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).

Fears that it was a deliberate fire have been confirmed with two teenagers, aged 13 and 14, having been charged with "wilful fireraising" at the Harley Street premises.

Police officers in South West Fife have thanked the public for their help during the investigation.

They said: "Following a fire at #Rosyth Rugby Club in the early hours of this morning, we can now confirm that two youths (13 and 14) have been charged in connection with wilful fireraising.

"A report will be submitted to the children’s reporter. Thanks to those who helped with our enquiries."

Club president Ben Morris said he was alerted by the police about the incident at around 4am this morning.

He told the Press earlier: "There is not much to say right now as I haven't been been able to go into the building.

"I'm not sure how much has been damaged but it looks to be one part of the building, where a waste bin has melted by an external wall.

"I think the fire would have started sometime between 3 and 4am."

There has been a wave of anti-social behaviour in Rosyth in recent weeks.
