NEW figures show the number of individuals connected to Fife schools with positive cases of coronavirus or having to self-isolate rising.

More than 350 people connected to schools in the Kingdom have been asked to self-isolate in the space of seven days.

Data seen by the Press shows that 76 positive cases have been reported among school-age young people in Fife and staff who work in Fife schools up until last Friday, March 19.

This has led to 356 individuals having to self-isolate as a precaution.

That's a big rise from the previous set of figures - up to Friday, March 12 - which showed 28 positive cases and just 113 people being asked to self-isolate.

Up to March 5 the figure was also 28 positive cases but only 25 people asked to self-isolate.

All primary school children returned to full-time education on March 15 with high school pupils on a phased return from that date.

Pupils in primaries one to three, some senior secondary pupils who need to do practical work for qualifications and all children under school age in early learning and childcare returned to school on February 22.
