THIEVES made off with two high-value electric bikes in Dalgety Bay last weekend.

David and Sandra Penman were in their home and chased two men who ran off with the high-end cycles just before 2am last Sunday.

They believe the theft was targeted and have appealed for local residents to help them recover the bikes.

"They basically used bolt cutters and broke the shed open. They have taken two bikes, an Orbea Team Wild electric mountain bike and a Specialised Creo SL electric road bike," David said.

"I was in my bed and Sandra shouted up. She had gone to check the back door before going to bed and she saw a torch. She went down the street and chased them through a lane but lost them.

"I then jumped into my van and saw them at the tennis court with masks on. They went into Morlich Way and I never saw them after that.

"It was quite a harrowing experience. I didn't think it would affect me like that. We have never had any trouble here and then you get something as horrendous as that."

Police Scotland confirmed they were investigating the theft of two high-value electric pedal cycles between 1.50am and 2am on Sunday, March 21.

PC Simon Large, of Dalgety Police Station, said: "We are keen to trace two men who may be able to assist our inquiries. We know that the route the men took was along Regents Way, Moray Way and into Moray Park, before being lost to sight.

"I would urge anyone with private CCTV or ring door bells that may have captured anything suspicious to get in touch. Anyone with any information is asked to call 101, quoting 0486 of 21 March."
