A LEARNER driver failed to attach a trailer to his vehicle properly, resulting in an accident on Dunfermline’s Coal Road.
The trailer became detached, striking another vehicle which then crashed into a wall.
Connar Venters only held a provisional licence, was not accompanied by a qualified driver and did not display ‘L’ plates. He has now been hit with a £2,500 fine for the offences.
Venters, 25, of Lochend Farm, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on April 1, 2019, in Coal Road, he drove a vehicle as a provisional licence-holder, not accompanied by a qualified driver, not displaying ‘L’ plates and he drove without insurance.
He also drove a vehicle carelessly whilst towing a trailer by failing to attach adequate coupling, causing it to become detached, colliding with a wall and another vehicle, which then also struck the wall.
Sheriff Pino di Emidio fined Venters £2,500 and imposed nine penalty points on his licence.
