BLAIRHALL's finest bakers have been included in a special schools edition of The Big Issue.

The magazine has partnered with the Social Enterprise Academy to produce a unique copy which gives a platform for young people to showcase their positive contributions to society during the pandemic.

Blairhall Primary School is one of 15 in Scotland which started selling the edition on Monday, with the supplement included in all copies of the national version.

This coincides with the return of more than 100 Big Issue vendors who will be back on their pitches across Scotland after 24 weeks in lockdown.

The sell-off has been a great success in the past, generating income for the schools' social enterprises to continue making a difference in the local community.

Blairhall Bakes was created to give pupils the opportunity to plan and bake items to sell in the local area.

Isabella, a pupil at the school, said: "We are very excited to be involved again in The Big Issue’s Social Enterprise edition and share our learning with others. We have worked so hard on Blairhall Bakes, it’s great to share it with others!”
