A DUNFERMLINE man has been charged with dangerous driving after a police chase ended with a pick-up truck crashing through a fence and into a garden.

Stuart Nowrie, 36, appeared in private at Falkirk Sheriff Court yesterday (Thursday) after the alleged incident on Wednesday.

He is accused on petition of dangerous driving, police assault, impeding police and registration plate fraud.

It is also alleged the vehicle he was driving had no MOT.

The high-speed pursuit, which started near Clackmannan and took in Fife and Tayside, was said to have caused "significant delays" on the M90 motorway before it came to a crashing end 45 minutes later in Cardenden.

Nowrie made no plea at a brief hearing before Sheriff Christopher Shead.

He was committed for further examination and released on bail, to appear again at a date to be confirmed.

Police said a motorist failed to stop between Clackmannan and Kincardine and the force chased a vehicle on the motorway before it headed to Cardenden.

Pictures from the scene show a police car with significant damage to the front end being removed from the property near Craigside Road.

Video taken at the scene showed a pick-up truck had collided with a fence, crashing into a nearby garden.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.55am on Wednesday May 5, a white Ford Transit van failed to stop when signalled to by police near Gartarry roundabout near Clackmannan.

"Officers pursued the vehicle for 45 minutes through Tayside and Fife until it came to a stop in the garden of a property on Craigside Road in Cardenden. Nobody was injured during the incident."
