A DUNFERMLINE restaurant has pulled off an inspiring win at the first ever Scottish Virtual Restaurant Awards.

Dhoom – Indian Streatery has won the Inspiring Restaurant of the Year Award.

The awards, announced today (Friday) recognises the contribution Dhoom, on New Row, and many other restaurants have made by continuing to operate during the lockdown.

Although they have been prohibited from welcoming diners to their premises, they have continued to engage with their communities by providing takeaways, deliveries and support for frontline NHS staff.

It is not the first time the eatery has tasted success as by its first birthday in 2019 it had already claimed Best New Restaurant in the Scottish Curry Awards.

Prior to the win, owner Dhaneshwar Prasad told the Press: "I believe we’re the only restaurant in Fife to be shortlisted so we are very lucky that we’re being recognised across the whole of Scotland.

“We’ve been told out of 2,000 restaurants we have been selected. Even becoming a finalist is amazing but to win will be a big achievement!”

When we first opened this place it was very difficult to get people in because it isn’t a normal Indian selling kormas and tikka,” Prasad continued.

“It was a big change and there was nothing like us around.

“But now we get hundreds of messages for bookings, people are definitely supporting us.
“People come from all over the country to dine here.

“I was keen to make sure when I opened a restaurant it offered something different so it will be a big achievement for me if we win.”
