A 23-yEAR-OLD man’s visit to Dunfermline ended in him struggling violently with police officers at the Broomhead flats before being sprayed in the face to bring him under control.

As a result, Jack Salter, of Rowan Drive, Fort William, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on August 4, at Broomhead Drive, he struck a door repeatedly, acted aggressively towards security staff and police officers, struggled violently with police, refused to be handcuffed, attempted to dislodge an officer’s PAVA spray and attempted repeatedly to break free from police.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said that at around 3am, Salter arrived at the flats in a taxi.

He was then spotted by security guards punching walls and he was asked what he was doing there.

He became aggressive and confrontational, resulting in the police being called.

Officers found him sitting on stairs on the ninth floor and he refused to leave.

Salter began walking out eventually but his behaviour became more erratic and at one point he “took off his top, dropped his trousers and said he wanted to be searched” said the depute.

Four officers ended up in a struggle with Salter with one holding him in a headlock.

He tried to grab the PAVA spray from one of the officers and was then sprayed in the face.

The court was told Salter had been in Fife visiting a friend who lives in the flats.

Sheriff Alastair Brown imposed an 18-week restriction of liberty order.
