WORK has begun on filling a second sinkhole in a Valleyfield street in a matter of months.

The large hole appeared in Valleyfield Avenue around 300 yards from the spot where a similar crater appeared at the end of the year and was filled eventually in February.

Valleyfield Community Council chairperson Rab McKenzie said the problem had been caused by a broken drain which was exacerbated by the heavy downfalls last August.

"It has been a pipe broken from the drain and it was not connected to go anywhere so during the heavy rain that we had when cars were destroyed, all the water was running down there and going into this particular hole," he explained.
