A DUNFERMLINE cafe owner is hoping to receive planning permission – six months after his new venture opened.

Lee McCran is the man behind Mr Potato Head, at 25 New Row, and he’s seeking consent from Fife Council for a change of use from a pet shop.

The plush cafe sells freshly-baked potatoes, baguettes, sandwiches, toasties, wraps and salads, Forth Roasters coffee, Equi’s Italian ice cream, cakes and confectionery.

It opened for business in December.

The premises, which had been empty for a number of years, was formerly a car parts shop and then a pet store that sold exotic reptiles.

Mr McCran had submitted his planning application in October last year but there were a few issues and it was only validated by the council last month.

The premises are owned by LCP, a privately-owned investment and property management company which has a head office in the West Midlands and has more than 410 sites, 3,500 tenants and 15 million square feet of property.

Back in October 2019, Dunfermline Cinema Project outlined ambitious proposals for a 66-seater Unicorn Cinema at 25 New Row.

The project is now getting ready to open just down the road at the Alhambra Theatre.
