REPORTS of someone dressed as a clown in a Fife woods prompted a police search last night.

A member of the public phoned police after someone dressed as a clown emerged from the trees and began staring at them in the Keltyhill Avenue area of Kelty.

The incident happened at around 11.30pm last night [Wednesday].

A post on Facebook said: “I wanted to warn the community that my husband was out walking the dog this evening in the quarry and came across a person dressed as a creepy clown who came out of the trees and just stood staring at him.

“Our dog was feeling threatened and growling / barking and eventually the “clown” ran away but it was very intimidating.”

Police Scotland confirmed they searched the vicinity following the report.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report around 11.35pm on Wednesday, 16 June of a person seen dressed as a clown in the Keltyhill Avenue area of Kelty.

"Officers attended and there was no trace of anyone found in the area and there have been no further reports made to police."
