A 16-YEAR-OLD girl has appeared in court for a violent offence which took place at Dunfermline High School.

A female pupil was attacked viciously after school when she was grabbed by the hair, punched, kicked and had her head stamped on.

The attacker, not a pupil at the school, had made online threats previously after becoming upset about the victim ‘liking’ a photo of a boy on social media.

The assailant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

She admitted that between May 3-6, she sent messages to the girl containing abusive remarks and threatened her repeatedly with violence.

She also admitted that on May 17, at Dunfermline High School, she assaulted the same girl by seizing her by the hair, punched her repeatedly on the head, pulled her to the ground and repeatedly kicked and stamped on her head and body, all to her injury.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said the background to the offending had been the attacker taking offence to the other girl ‘liking’ a social media post by a boy they both knew.

This led to the 16-year-old making threats via Facebook to “cut you the f*** up”. She also sent messages saying: “I’ll stab the f*** out of you” and “I’m kicking your gobby wee face in”.

As the victim left school, she was attacked violently and was later taken to hospital where she was X-rayed. She suffered heavy bleeding to her lip, a bruised eye and internal bruising.

Sheriff Alastair Brown called for reports and sentencing will take place on July 7.
