GREEN-FINGERED locals in Inverkeithing can show off their creations in a garden competition this summer.

Anyone is welcome to enter the competition, whether you have a small patio or huge gardens, and you can also nominate someone else's in the neighbourhood.

Children can also get in on the action with a special 'Garden on a Plate' competition for under-12s.

They can create a tiny garden on a plate using any materials they like such as used cut vegetables, plasticine, clay, paper etc.

Shona Reppe, from Inverkeithing Trust, who are organising the competition, said: "During lockdown, lots of us have been spending even more time in our gardens and now it’s time to show them off!

"Many enthusiasts were heartbroken a few years ago when the Fife Council competition was ended, so the trust is keen to revive the event for the benefit of residents, and to celebrate all the great gardens in the burgh."

The Inverkeithing Garden Competition is open to anyone who lives in Inverkeithing. Entry forms are available at Inverkeithingtrust.co.uk or can be picked up at Millbarista and around town.

Members of Inverkeithing Community Garden and Inverflora have agreed to be judges for the competition.

Deadline for entries is Monday, July 26, while judging will take place week beginning August 2. Awards will be handed out in the Community Garden on Saturday, August 7, at 2pm.
