PARS 5 DUMBARTON 1

IN BRIEF:

LESS than a minute was on the clock when Dunfermline got the home fans off their seats as quickly as they had sat down on them.

Kyle Macdonald whipped a teasing delivery across the face of goal and Sam Ramsbottom needlessly parried it outwards and inadvertently off Nikolay TODOROV for the opener on 52 seconds.

The second wasn't far behind as two minutes later it was Dom THOMAS who found the back of the net.

He swivelled inside the area and lashed a bullet across goal and into the far corner.

A third came on 28 minutes through Craig WIGHTON to cap off a lovely bit of play between himself and Macdonald.

Wighton picked it up in the middle before switching it out to Macdonald who then wrapped the ball around his right foot and put it on a plate for the onrushing Wighton to head home for a few yards out.

That would conclude the scoring in a frantic half.

However, a fourth would come after time from a former Par rather than a present one.

Josh Edwards drove down the left and his irresistible cross was diverted into his own net by Gregor BUCHANAN (OG) who had little choice but to get something on it with Todorov lurking behind him on 51 minutes.

Dumbarton responsed though with a Ross Graham error leading to Ross MACLEAN drilling a low drive off the ground - 12 yards out - and into the far post and in for a consolation on 56 minutes.

The next goal would go to the Pars as Kevin O'HARA registered with a smart, unmarked header from a Macdonald cross on 70 minutes.

A perfect afternoon for Peter Grant as he enjoyed his first match in the home dugout at East End Park.
