A ROSYTH man is to go on trial accused of an assault at a hostel resulting in severe injury.
The incident is alleged to have occurred on April 7 last year, at Hyndhead Hostel, Michael Street, Buckhaven.
James Gillespie, 29, Esmonde Court, faces a charge that he assaulted a man by punching him repeatedly on the head, seized him by the body, put him in a headlock, kicked him in the head, pushed him, causing him to strike his head on a toilet, and threatened him with violence, all to his severe injury.
Gillespie, who denies the charge, was not present at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court for the first diet hearing but was represented by his solicitor.
Trial was set for January 31 at Kirkcaldy.
